 SwypeGloves

What’s wrong with my current gloves?

Ordinary gloves do not work with most touchscreen smartphones like iPhones, Droids and Blackberrys. If you’re on this website, chances are that you have a smartphone or a tablet and are looking for a solution; gloves that actually work with your touchscreen devices so that you don’t have to pull them off when you get a call and you are outdoors in the freezing cold.

What are SwypeGloves?

SwypeGloves are the world’s most fashionable touchscreen capable gloves. We wanted to create a glove that is very functional yet at the same time fashionable. We spent months analysing various conductive materials trying to create a glove that fits your hand like a second skin. We tested several materials and worked with different suppliers to craft a glove we believe is truly unique. The gloves are snug fit, made of high-quality wool for warmth and available in different colors. Further, unlike most of the products on the market, we wanted full ten-finger access so you can even use it with your tablet devices in the cold.

What are capacitive touchscreens?

Most modern smartphones, GPS devices, tablets, eReaders, Game Systems, etc. have capacitive touchscreens. Examples include iPhones, Droid phones, HTC, Blackberrys, iPads, Barnes and Noble Nooks, Nintendo DS, etc.

Try this simple test. With a pair of ordinary gloves or simply by covering your finger with thick fabric, try to operate your iPhone or any other similar device. If it doesn’t work, you have a capacitive touchscreen.

Capacitive touch screens use a layer of capacitive material to hold an electrical charge. Tiny amounts of oil and moisture on your fingertips allow them to conduct electricity. Touching the screen changes the amount of charge at the specific point of contact. Ordinary gloves are non-conductive so they do not affect the electrical charge on the touchscreen.

Can I convert my existing gloves into touchscreen gloves?

Yes! And we’ll even show you how. Here’s a link we created at SwypeGloves to help you out.

What styles are SwypeGloves produced in?

SwypeGloves are currently produced in knits using high-quality premium wool fiber. SwypeGloves Sport line is made of a lighter soft acrylic fiber. SwypeGloves fingertips are made of a special conductive fiber. We also make SwypeGloves in a special 50% thicker fiber for extreme warm conditions. This is currently available to resellers only. Please email us at info@swypegear.com to learn more.

What devices can SwypeGloves work on?

SwypeGloves work with most modern smartphones, GPS devices, tablets, eReaders, Game Systems, etc. that have capacitive touchscreens. Examples include iPhones, Droid phones, HTC, Blackberrys, iPads, Barnes and Noble Nooks, Nintendo DS, etc.

Are SwypeGlove Knits washable?

Absolutely! However, they are made of premium wool, so do exercise caution like you would with any high quality wool sweater. Hand wash in cold water and air dry and your gloves should be good to go.

What does snug fit mean?

Snug fit means that the gloves are designed to fit like a second skin. To a very small degree, spandex has been blended into the wool fibers to give it that stretchy snug fit. This makes it cling to your palm and fingers. It also improves precision.

Can SwypeGloves harm my screen?

Ordinary usage of SwypeGloves on touch screens will not harm your screen. The conductive fibers feel as soft as regular fibers, not metallic and they do not scratch glass. Of course, if you make a fist and punch your screen wearing SwypeGloves, it will probably break!

Do you have a sizing chart?

Sure do! But in short, because the gloves are snug fit, they are unisex and will expand/contract to your hand size. Medium and large sizes generally fit most men while small and medium will fit most women.

The exact unstretched sizes are given below but please remember that the gloves stretch so if you are measuring your hand, get something ~2-3 cm smaller if possible. For example, if your size is 19 cm, your glove size would be 16-17 cm, so a Large would fit.

Large Gloves (15-17 cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger)
Medium Gloves (14-16 cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger)
Small Gloves (13-14 cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger)
Extra Large Gloves (17-19 cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger)

The cuff is ~5 cm long.

Kids Gloves (4.75 in/12 cm from base of palm to tip of middle finger, 1.25 in/3 cm cuff)
